Amazing Grace Birds is a small rescue that is run by Steve & Sheri Baumgartner. We operate out of our home, and began our love affair with birds several years ago, when we purchased a conure as a pet. Little did we know that one bird would spark a passion for these magnificent creatures that would lead to more birds. Our flock includes an African Grey, a harlina macaw, a sun conure, a lutino lovebird, a cockatiel, a canary, and two finches. Our birds are not only pets, but also companions, friends, and learning tools. Our birds are family members, and are treated as such. They travel with us, eat with us, and are a part of every function in our lives. They also travel to classrooms on occasion, for students to learn about.
We have become increasingly aware of the need for quality bird facilities through multiple avenues: talking to others, news stories, and other rescues. While we realize not everyone treats their birds as we do, we also realize there are birds in need of new homes or better environments, or both. Our goal is to assist in this endeavor. We take in birds whose owners cannot care for them anymore, and also find new homes for birds. We will, if needed, drive to pick up birds. In the event that a bird cannot be re-homed, they will remain with us in sanctuary.
